Inmotive is looking for a

Vice-President of Engineering

Interested in the future of transportation? Want to play a meaningful role in the global electrification revolution? You’ll enjoy working with us.

The adoption rate of EVs has been hampered by range anxiety, performance issues and high costs. Inmotive addresses these problems with our revolutionary two-speed Ingear transmission, which provides double-digit performance improvements while reducing costs.

Inmotive is a Canadian-owned company headquartered in Toronto with a presence in China and sales offices in Germany and Japan.

We’re an inclusive and diverse group of like-minded people committed to growing our company and creating a positive legacy with our products.

We are currently looking for a VP of Engineering to join our leadership team. This role–which reports to the CEO and has exposure to the Board–has two primary responsibilities. First, you will drive products to completion by building, owning, maintaining and delivering upon solid product plans. Second–and equally important–you will bring your strong leadership capabilities to supporting and growing Inmotive’s engineering teams, acting as the ultimate engineering decision-maker when required.

To excel in this role, you already have most (but likely not all) of the following experiences:

  • Launched more than one product from an engineering perspective, including gathering input from customers, translating customer needs into product requirements, creating a product plan, developing an associated validation plan and delivering the product to completion.

  • Filled the role of Chief Engineer or led a Chief Engineer or otherwise acted as a senior technical decision maker.

  • Attained broad familiarity with automotive design based on experience working across different automotive products at an OEM, at an OEM supplier, or both. Experience working with transmissions is not necessary, but will be a definite bonus.

  • Built and led an engineering team of 20 or more engineers, ideally leveraging DFMEA, DFSS, APQP or related processes.

  • Filled the role of a senior business leader in interactions with executive-level customer and supplier contacts.

  • Successfully grown a team as part of scaling up a business.

We believe certain leadership competencies will be critical to your success and we’ll be interested in learning more about your strengths related to:

  • Building and following a plan

  • Delivering results

  • Building and leading a team

  • Making decisions

  • Building strong executive-level peer relationships

  • Exhibiting strong technical leadership

If this sounds like a fit with your experience and passion, we’d love to hear from you.
